Nabsamruddhi curates its first panel for deliberating action on Climate Ready WASH Funding at Livelihoods India Summit- 17-18 January 2024
NABSAMRUDDHI curated a specialised high level panel discussion to deliberate on the critical need for funding Climate ready Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) during the Livelihoods India Summit hosted by ACCESS Development Services in New Delhi during 17 to 18 January 2024. The event also showcased Nabsamruddhi’s initiatives in promoting WASH lending as well as its innovative pilot program on Climate Ready WASH Funding(CRWF) programme, supported by Special Concessional refinance from NABARD and technical support from Water.org, WASH Innovation hub of ASCI, FINISH Mondial, Toilet board among others.
The panel comprised of Bonani Roychoudhury, MD, Nabsamruddhi; Manoj Gulati, Regional Director, South Asia, Water.org; Sadaf Sayeed, CEO, Muthoot Microfin; Shri Dibyajyoti Pattanaik, Director, Annapurna Finance and it was moderated by Rasika Chopra of Microsave Consulting (MSC). The deliberations focused on the triad of Climate, WASH and sustainable livelihoods, the active role being played by Micro Finance Institutions on the demand side and the need for collaborative action towards the SDG 6 goal through innovative financing instruments, which can accelerate progress towards a greener, healthier, more inclusive world. The forum also discussed the role of various stakeholders in promoting community level safe WASH infrastructure and the challenges and opportunities in financing Climate smart WASH MSMEs in the space.
Further, the event resulted in initiation of effective partnerships between ACCESS Development Services and other active players in the space to explore blended finance for WASH through NABSAMRUDDHI and its client FIs.
